My uncle and aunt, Ron and Carolyn Perry, have been dealers in New Guinea and other Oceanic Art for more than 40 years. In their many exploits overseas, they have collected various recordings of New Guinea music. They asked me to digitize several of their recordings for their own use and, due to a wider interest in access to these recordings, I decided to make them available here. I have done my best to ensure that the proper credit, when known, has been given to those who originally created the recordings.
I am not an expert in New Guinea music, nor am I an ethnomusicologist, but I have done my best to keep the labeling of the songs as accurate as possible from the information I had available. I am, however, a musician who appreciates this music as well as the scholarship that accompanies these recordings. If you are aware of any information that would make this page more useful, please pass it along to me with an email.
