A student's lessons should be first and foremost about the perfection of the technique for their instrument.  However, I feel that a broad understanding of music composition and theory will enhance the student's appreciation of the music they are making.  To this end, I frequently include projects and assignments that teach composition and encourage creativity.  Also, I strongly believe in the value of ensemble work.  Therefore, as soon as a student is ready, I'll begin to work on duets or larger ensembles with them.  And, if we end up doing a real gig somewhere, all the better to give the student some real-world experience!

I specialize in piano and guitar instruction, as well as composition lessons.  However, I can teach the basics of pretty much any band instrument, having been a band director for a long time and having played many instruments myself.  Further, I have a strong background in woodwinds, having played clarinet, saxophone and flute extensively.

So, if you're interested in lessons with me and live in the metropolitan Phoenix area, send me an email:  chris@theperryproject.org

Or, fill out the form below, and I'll get in touch with you.
