For a long time I didn't explore any electronic options for composition and music creation. This isn't due for any specific reason, but I never found myself in a position to properly learn how to do it. Even now, of all the musicians that I know personally, none of them create electronic music. In some ways, this surprises me, now that I think about it. Anyway, I have been intrigued by electronic and synthesized music that I've discovered on the Internet, and I always wanted to learn more about it.
Recently I've been teaching myself to use Logic Studio 9 to record acoustic music, with piano, guitar, voice and other instruments. As I have been working through the deep learning curve of the software, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Logic includes many synthesizers and music generators that can be used with my MIDI keyboard. And, what's more, I've discovered that I really enjoy composing with these synthesized instruments.
So, Bits and Pieces is my album of electronic music. And, like everything else on this website, it is a work in progress which means that pieces will be posted as they are completed. Feel free to download any of the MP3s if you like them. I hope you enjoy listening to these pieces as much as I enjoyed making them. (Posted 10-20-10)

Desert RoadImagine driving down a long straight road through the desert, with nothing but sky and asphalt as far as the eye can see.
You'd better imagine that you're in a low-riding sports car while you're at it. The photograph was taken by Moses Milazzo. (Posted 10-20-10)

Medicine ManThis piece was generated while exploring some of the loops built in to Logic. Then I couldn't resist, so I snuck some acoustic guitar licks of mine in there, and then looped them and chopped them up into little pieces.
Anyway, when I was done I imagined a 21st century medicine man doing a rain dance in the middle of a apocalyptic city. The picture to the right is from Lori Nix's "The City." (Posted 10-20-10)

Out of MindThis was originally supposed to be an ambient piece, but I couldn't resist getting a good drumbeat in eventually. I don't know if that breaks the rules of ambient music, but I kinda like the extended setup to the funky bits. Sounds best with a good pair of headphones. (Posted 10-26-10)
